Hazrat Madhu Lal Hussain
He was born in 945 A.H in Lahore. His grandfather was a Hindu, who later accepted Islam. His name was Hussain, but later he became famous with the name of Madhu Lal Hussain. Madhu was a young boy, who was a Brahman Hindu, he often used to go to play with his friends in some isolated place, where he found Hazrat Hussain busy in mediation & contemlations. He asked his friend about him, who said that he is a Muslim dervish. Later they both felt affection in each other, so Madhu started to visit Hazrat Hussain daily. His family members didn't like his visiting to Hazrat Hussain, because they were afraid that Hazrat Hussain could change his religion. Their fear proved right, Madhu accepted Islam at the age of 18 & became disciple of Hazrat Hussain. After death of Hazrat Hussain, Madhu became his spiritual successor.
In childhood, Hazrat Hussain memorized six chapters of the Holy Qur'an. Later, when Hazrat Bahlol came to Lahore, he became his disciple. During the month of Ramadan, Hazrat Bahlol told him to lead the Tarawih Prayer. Because Hazrat Hussain memorized only six chapters of Qur'an, so he finished all six chapters in six nights. On 7th day, he told Hazrat Bahlol: "Tonight I won't be able to lead the Tarawih prayers, as I've recited all six chapters of Qur'an, and I can't recite the remaining 24 chapters." Hazrat Bahlol told him first perform Wudu (ablution) & then go to the river by reciting Qur'an and bring water for me. When he reached to the river bank, he saw a dervish wearing green cloths. That dervish told him to let him perform the ablution, Hazrat Hussain assisted him with water. After finishing, that dervish put some drops of water from his wet body on Hazrat Hussain hand, and said him to drink that. Hazrat Hussain drank that & felt some inner changes. When he reached back, Hazrat Bahlol disclosed to him secret of that dervish, that he was Khidr. And also told Hazrat Hussain that tonight you should continue to lead the prayers. So on that night Hazrat Hussain recited thr 7th chapter of Qur'an, although he didn't memorize it, so in the whole month of Ramadan, he recited Qur'an completely.
After some period, Hazrat Bahlol left Lahore, and before leaving he advised Hazrat Hussain to continue the contemplations & meditation. And he is leaving him in the guidance of Hazrat Ali Hajveri. After leaving of Hazrat Bahlol, Hazrat Hussain continued to go to the river bank of ravi, and peform the contemplations & meditation, he ate less & slept less. Once during the month of Ramadan, he visited the tomb of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, and saw a dervish with holy appearance. Hazrat Hussain asked him: "Who are you?" He replied: "I'm Ali Hajveri, you served me for 12 years, now you are God's friend and would be sunk in the ocean of Tauheed (Oneness of God)" After some period, Hazrat Hussain was thrown into Jazb (Ecstasy), he often start to dance in the state of ecstasy. He shaved his beard & moustaches, stopped performing prayers. People started to keep away from him, and accused him to be an heretic. When his spiritual teacher Hazrat Bahlol heard about that, he came to Lahore to see him. When he met him, he checked him with his inner-eyes, and found him in perfect in sainthood. So then he became satisfied.
That was the realm of Mughal Emperor Akbar. People complained him about Hazrat Hussain, and accused him that he drinks wine, and is involved in all immoral activities, but still claims to be a dervish. King Akbar asked his soldiers to bring Hazrat Hussain to him, so he was brought before Akbar. Akbar asked him: "You belong to Qadriya Sufi Order, and drink wine??" Hazrat Hussain was holding a water pot, and people thought that it's poured with wine. Hazrat Hussain inserted to that pot & after pouring it, he presented it to Akbar. Akbar was surprised to see that the glass contained cold water. Hazrat Hussain again inserted the glass in the pot & presented it to Akbar, this time it contained soft drink. He repeated it thrice, and on third time the glass contained milk. Akbar, ordered his soldiers to imprison Hazrat Hussain. When later Akbar went to his bedroom, he saw that Hazrat Hussain is sitting with his wife. He was surprised & ran towards the prison, there he found Huzrat Hussain sitting peacefully. Akbar was impressed & then freed him.
One person in Madina, regularly saw Hazrat Hussain at the tomb of the Holy Prophet, wearing nice clothes & performing prayers & meditation. That person once came to Lahore, he saw Hazrat Hussain & recognized him. At that time Hazrat Hussain was drinking wine & dancing in the state of ecstasy. That person was surprised, and told it to Hazrat Hussain that in Madina you were decent Muslim, and here you are a drinker! Hazrat Hussain told him to sit down, when he sat, Hazrat Hussain told him to close his eyes. When he closed his eyes, he saw that Hazrat Hussain is still sitting at the tomb of the Holy prophet & meditating. He was surprised to see that & opened his eyes. Hazrat Hussain told him to not to disclose his secret to any one.
Once he went to a place called Shahdra in Lahore, and placed a stone in a particular place and told to his disciples to mark this place. He said: "I would be buried here, after 13 years of my burial, a flood destroy Lahore & my friends would dig my grave & re-bury my dead body in Babupura. One year after my death, Madhu will leave Lahore & go for a journey, and he will come back after 12 years & would follow my tradition and will become my successor for 35 years." Later each word of Hazrat Hussain proved true.
Hazrat Hussain died in 1599 (1008 A.H), in Lahore.
