Spiral
Productions is an arts organization, that aims to produce
innovative and interesting work. We want to integrate
different art forms and are currently seeking all kinds
of artists to share their ideas.
For
me 'Spiral Productions' is the creative freedom that
I have been searching for my whole life. It has allowed
me to look freely into myself and not only say the things
that I want to say but to also delve into the darker
side of life. Those
elements that lurk inside all of us, that never let
us go and seek to take us over if we do not give them
a voice of their own.
Biography
I
have been making short films since 1999. My first film
called Untitled, (I wasn't good with names then.) and
it was very autobiographical. It dealt with my own insecurities
about not feeling good enough, smart enough, pretty
enough, popular enough and all those other 'enoughs'
that so many of us deal with in our lives. It was a
cathartic experience and helped me to put some of those
insecurities that I had battled with for so long behind
me.
Since
then I have been involved in many films and theatre
projects both with and without Rebecca. We then decided
to combine these different artforms with soundscapes,
spoken word, exhibition etc, to form multi-arts events.
I started this by doing an experimental documentary
on an artist, The Language of Flesh, which
combined her artwork as part of the story of her work
and life, which of course led to many other multi-arts
productions.
Now
I have graduated to another level, that of Festival
creation and developement. Some months ago, I conceived
an idea for a festival that involved many artforms,
not just being performed and shown seperately, but also
combined in performance and exhibition together in the
one act in order to form a new artistic experience.
This has become known as the Fusion Multi-Arts Festival
which occured in May and we are currently doing Fringe
Fusion, which is the same thing but a little smaller
to fit into the Fringe.
Currently
I am also a Producer for the Executive committee of
the Westgarth Film Festival and will be opening up a
consultancy practice as part of Spiral Productions for
those wanting advice and assistance in the areas of
arts production and practice.
