How to write a paragraph?

 

1.     limit the subject.

2.     write the topic sentence at the first sentence.

- the topic sentence, the first sentence on the paragraph that u write.

3.     write the supporting sentence.

- the reasons of ur topic.

4.     the concluding sentence.

- the last sentence that the paragraph will end up with.

When do we use a comma?

 

There is almost sixteen steps to use a comma;

 

1.     Before conjunctions;

(But, So, And, Or)

ex. He works afternoon, so he goes to class in the morning.

2.     Before an introductory clause;

(Before, after, if, when…etc)

ex. If he comes, I will talk to him.

3.To separate interrupting expressions;

ex. Do u know, by the way, what time it is?

-         Could u tell me, what your name is?

4.     After transitional expressions;

(First of all, In addition, On the other hand, However, Fathomer, For example, for instance, Therefore…etc).

5.     After “Yes” and “No” answers;

Ex. Yes, I do.

No, I don’t.

6.     To separate names;

Ex. Do you know, Ali, where Ahmed is?

7.     To separate quotations;

Ex. He says, “I drink coffee in the morning.”

8.     To separate items in series;

Ex. I drink coffee, tea, milk and water at night.

9.     To separate an appositive from the rest of the sentence;

Ex. Mho. Ali, the boxer, will visit Al-Riyadh next week.

10. If a date or an address has two or more parts;

Ex. I was born on Aug. 2, 2003.

-         I live at Al-Job street, Al-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

11. To separate two or more adjectives;

Ex. Ahmed is a clever, young, smart and handsome guy.

12. To separate contrasting information;

Ex. Bring your writing book, nor your grammar book.
