Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is Pleth Machine only for plethysmography analysis?

A: NO!  Pleth Machine was designed for plethysmography data, but at its core it is simply a database organizer and number crunching machine.  Very little alteration is required to convert the user interface to reflect whatever variables you want to analyze - simply contact us with your requirements.  Within reason, we can customize the software at no added cost.

Q: Why can't I customize the code myself?

A: For obvious reasons of protecting the precise algorithms we use to manipulate the data, there is no way to access the underlying code of the software.  Aphevio is a software package which will allow user-defined variables and analysis routines.

Q: There appears to be some data which isn't visible in the Excel worksheet, what is it?

A: Some of the functions of Pleth Machine involve moving data to and from Excel worksheets.  To protect the integrity of the data, as well as some of the methods used to organize it, we've also hidden the worksheets that don't need to be directly accessed by the user.

Q: Help!  My software has crashed and I can't get it to restart!  What do I do?

A: There are some limitations in the way Excel interprets the code of Pleth Machine that cannot be fixed.  There are instructions in the HelpFile for dealing with some of them.  If they do not work, please contact us and we will get you up and running very shortly!

Q: Does a software crash mean I have lost my data?

A: Almost never.  If Pleth Machine does have a problem your data is never going to be lost, although you may have to re-analyze to recreate the results!  If Excel crashes there is a possibility of losing raw data that was added during the current session.  We recommend keeping "AutoSave" and "AutoRecover" activated in Excel for this purpose.

Q: When are the other software suites going to be released?

A: Both Aphevio and PT-Racker are in development, with Aphevio further along the process but PT-Racker potentially simpler to write.  As we get more news we will be letting everyone know via our website and mailing list.  We do expect to get both released by the Fall.
