Raymond
E. Fowler was born in Salem,
Massachusetts and received a
B.A. Degree (magna cum laude)
from Gordon College of Liberal
Arts. His career included a tour
with the USAF Security Service
and 25 years with GTE Government
Systems. He retired early after
working as a Task Manager
several major weapons systems
including the Minuteman
Intercontinental Missile Program
as a Senior Planner and in-house
member of the Minuteman
Production Board.
Ray Fowler’s contributions to
UFOlogy are respected by UFO
researchers throughout the
world. His investigation reports
have been published in:
Congressional Hearings, Military
Publications, newspapers,
magazines and professional
journals in the U.S.A. and
abroad. He has been a major
contributor to other books
including the Time-Life Series
on UFOs. The USAF UFO Projects'
Chief Scientific Consultant, Dr.
J. Allen Hynek, has called
Raymond Fowler, “An outstanding
UFO investigator ... I know of
none who is more dedicated,
trustworthy or persevering." Ray
served as chairman of the
Massachusetts Subcommittee for
the National Investigations
Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP),
an early warning coordinator for
the USAF-contracted UFO Study at
the University of Colorado and
as a scientific associate for
the Center for UFO Study. In
later years he served as
director of investigations on
the Board of Directors of the
Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and
was the editor of MUFON’s Field
Investigators Manual.
Ray also has appeared on
hundreds of radio and TV shows
in the U.S.A. since 1963. These
Include: Dave Garroway, Dick
Cavett, Mike Douglas, Good
Morning America, Unsolved
Mysteries, Sightings and a
number of TV network and
syndicated documentaries on UFOs
including Unsolved Mysteries and
Sightings.
Ray has written eleven books on
the subject of UFOs and
paranormal phenomena. The titles
of these books are: UFOs:

Casebook of a UFO Investigator,
The Melchizedek Connection, The
Watchers, The Allagash
Abductions, The Watchers II, The

Ray also is an amateur
astronomer, lecturer and
teacher. He built the Woodside
Planetarium & Observatory in
Wenham, Massachusetts which was
written up in the Sky and
Telescope Journal. He directed
its operations between 1970 and
2001. During this time he
presented adult and children's
star shows supplemented by
observation sessions with a 14”
Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. He
sponsored a variety of courses
himself and for Local Community
Colleges: UFO Seminar. The UFO
abduction phenomenon, mystery
phenomena, the near-death
experience, Astronomy for
beginners, Astronomy with
binoculars and small telescopes,
Cosmology for beginners, Fresh
water fishing, Vegetable
Gardening and children's courses
in Astronomy and fresh water
fishing. Ray moved to Kennebunk,
ME in 2002 where he has built
another observatory and
continues teaching these courses
in his home classroom for the
Kennebunk Adult Education
