Military Jeep
CJ 340 or CJ 3B

Hi, I was born as a Mahindra CJ 340 in the year 1990 at the Mahindra & Mahindra plant at Mumbai, India. A certain gentleman, wanted  me to be his workhorse on his coffee estate.

I was powered by an 2.1 Liter XDP 4.90 Peugeot Diesel Engine developing a peak power and torque of 62 b. h. p. at 4500 r. p. m. and 12.3 Kg-m at 2000 r. p. m. respectively. Fuel was fed through a MICO Bosch rotary pump. Fortunately my transmission was through a 4-speed gearbox and I was a 4-wheel drive. The front and rear differentials had a reduction of 5.27:1. I had a worm & roller type steering mechanism and brakes were of a dual circuit type with tandem master cylinder.

I ran on F-78/15 cross ply tires shod on 15" steel discs. Technically, I was sound, but I looked too decked up! I had a white canvas hood that was too encompassing, my wheel discs were painted white, I had a rounded add-on to my front & rear bumpers, again painted white!

How I wished to be released form my mundane agricultural role and fit it to the shoes of my ancestors! I wanted to be a full-fledged Military Jeep, ready to attack any terrain!

If wishes were horses, I could fly!
