Kingsley played this game with 3 key players missing (Matt Collins, Pete Gregory and Kim Monroe). Despite these players missing Kingsley started strong and took the lead mid way through the first half when Michael Betts lobbed the St Margarets keeper from 30 yards out with a very well measured shot. The rest of the half was very even with no more goals scored. St Margarets started the second half on fire but couldn't beat Reggie in the Kingsley goal who made a few superb saves. 10 minutes into the second half was when the big turning point in the game happened: Alan Summerfield scored a perfectly good goal but the St Margarets linesman (extra defender) put his flag up for offside. What really rubbed the salt into the Kingsley wound was that seconds later the ref awarded St Margarets a soft penalty which was converted. With 20 minutes remaining St Margarets took the lead after missing several earlier opportunities. St Margarets created even more chances in the last 15 minutes but Kingsley had goalkeeper Reggie to thank for keeping them in the game. Kingsley nearly equalised twice in the last few minutes through Carl Jayes and Michael Betts but it wasn't to be and Kingsley had lost their first game of the season.

Its all "ifs" after the game:

if all players were fit and available?

if Alan Summerfields' goal had stood?

if the ref hadn't fallen for the penalty?

They say luck evens itself out throughout the season, lets hope thats true!

Final Score: St Margarets  2 vs 1  Kingsley Park
