Kingsley continued their fine start to the new season with a convincing 5-2 away win. Although Kingsley were dominating the game, Northampton United took the lead around the 20 minute mark but this didn't worry a single player as the scores were level again within 5 minutes when Kev Marson finished off a superb Lee Harris cross. A few minutes later Kingsley took the lead when Jason Bradshaws' 60 yard cross field ball was brought down by Matt Collins and teed up for Chris Pinches to smash in from 20 yards. With 10 minutes of the half remaining Matt Collins raced clear of the defence, rounded the keeper and finished to make it a comfortable 3-1 half time lead. Kingsley always looked in control in the second half and increased their lead when Kev Marson scored his second goal from a tight angle. New signing Michael Betts made it 5-1 half way through the half when he turned quickly in the box and fired pass the Northampton United keeper. Northampton United pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining due to a goalkeeping error but never looked like scoring any more.
Kingsley's new look defence, captained by Jason Bradshaw looks solid and could be the difference as we look to win something this season.
Man of the match goes to Shaun Weston (again) (should be linesman every week).
Final Score: Northampton United 2 vs 5 Kingsley Park
