PRIVATE INVESTIGATION BOOKS
Behind
The Private Eye (Chris Cooper) : A very interesting and informative book on
surveillance investigations. Various surveillance techniques are discussed and the author
also writes about many personal investigations he had undertaken. Although it is a book on
surveillance investigations a chapter on factual and missing persons investigations is
included. I highly reccomend this book.
Investigating Made Simple (Gary
Maher) : A book that is more foccussed on investigations in general rathar than a
specific area. Still a very informative and worthwhile book.
Investigateway ebooks (Michael Hessenthaler) : I purchased the ebooks on the Investigateway website and found them very informative and interesting. A number of ebooks are included as well as various other informative documents such as Q and A and information documents.
CRIMINOLOGY/CRIMINAL JUSTICE/TRUE CRIME BOOKS
Sex
Crimes and Paraphilia (Eric Hickey) : This book would have to be the most informative
book I have ever read on sex crime. It contains detailed chapters on paraphilias/fetishes
(both criminal and non criminal) as well as chapters on sex crimes, from the minor to the
most serious. Each chapter has been researched in great detail and provides very
interesting information.
Serial
Murderers and Their Victims (Eric Hickey) : This book is different to all the other
serial killer books in that it is not presented in true crime format, it is presented in
academic format. It discusses theories that contribute to serial killing and also gives
case examples. It also has some chapters that discuss serial killing in other countries
besides the US. I highly reccomend this book, especially for the criminologist who
dislikes true crime books and wants to read about serial killers from an academic
perspective.
