     Welcome to Gympie Aero Club!

The Gympie Aero Club Inc is a group of people who are interested in and fly General Aviation and Recreational Aircraft.

Gympie (YGYM) has a large sealed strip 14/32 1400 m long with a non sealed cross strip 03/21 - 595 m. There is no runway lights and there are no NAVAIDS

Gympie's aerodrome is located a short 15 minute drive south along the Bruce highway from Gympie and is only 35 minutes drive from Noosa.

The Aero club has an affiliated Flying Training provider - Suncoast Cooloola Flight Training, which visits Gympie to conduct Flight Reviews and ab initio training an average 4 days a month. Contact Peter Rosendale on 04 0762 4937

There are NO landing fees, and the CTAF operates on 126.7. Brisbane Centre 129.0

There is no runway lighting. Currently there is no fuel available at Gympie Aerodrome.

No RPT services operate out of Gympie ( since the late 1980's) because of the Winter early morning fog . The area is very picturesque, but we do not have a lot of flat country suitable for an airfield, so when this was constructed in the 1960's, this was the best compromise site.

Gympie is a great place to fly, the local coast is spectacular from Fraser Island in the north through Noosa, Coolum, Caloundra, Bribie to Moreton and the Gold Coast in the South. Lots of people from the Sunshine Coast use our field because the costs are lower and its a very pretty area. It's used regularly for Navigation exercises and RAAF Caribou do use the field at night on occasions for night vision landings.

So if you live in the area and are interested in flying come along to a meeting. If you already fly, then come in to Gympie. A more friendly relaxed bunch of people you won't be likely to meet.
