Secrets of Adsense

There's really no secret to Adsense. But here are some hints to optimize your Adsense earnings:

1) If you see ads that aren't relevant to your site, but are taking up space, use Adsense's URL filter to block that ad from showing up again. This way, you'll ban the troublesome ad, and open up space for another, better ad.

2) Layouts and formats are very important. Adsense allows you to choose what type of ad layouts and what color you want your ads to appear in. Experiment with everything, and find the one that works best for you. What works for one site might not work for others. It's up to you to decide which works best, and earns you the most money.

3) Use Adsense's "Channels", which allows you to keep track of individual pages. This way, you can give one group of pages a particular layout/color scheme, and another something completely different. You can then use the channels to compare which one works better, and which one performs poorly.

4) Experiment. Experiment. Experiment.

5) Google allows a lot of leeway with how your Adsense ads show up on your webpage. Read all their tutorials so you won't get stuck doing the bare minimum. It's really not that difficult. Just take an hour and read everything Google allows you to do. Trust me, it'll be worth it.

6) Experiment. Experiment. Experiment.

Do colors matter when trying to decide which Adsense layout to pick? Yes and no.

Some believe that using the correct color scheme can increase earnings. Others don't think so. Once again, it's all about experimentation.

What works best for you?

If using a rotating color scheme works for you, you should continue using that.

Others think blending the Adsense ads into the background of the page works best for them. If that's the case for you as well, you should stick to that.

When it comes to color schemes, everyone's got an opinion. Not everything works for everyone.

Some believe that the brighter the color scheme, the more attention the ads attract. Then again, others believe that the best way to display and optimize the Adsense ads is to make them blend into the background, favoring subtlety over bright, neon colors.

I've experimented with both, and I've found that blending my Adsense ads into the background, making them look as part of the site rather than a large neon sign declaring: "This is an ad!" works best for me.

But that's just me. Your experiences may be entirely different.

But as with everything else, you need to experiment, and see what your readers respond to. To keep a record of how your experiments do, use the channels. That's what they're there for.

When all else fails, remember:

Experiment. Experiment. Experiment.
