Chess Tournament "Once a Week"

Chess Tournament "Once a Week" starts 16.11.2005 at 18:00.
The event takes place in Chess Club of the Center "Beit Dani" on the street Simtat Kabir, Tel Aviv, Israel.
Time control: 2 hour for a game to each player.
The tournament consists of 2 levels. A-players having ELO above 2000. B-players having ELO below 2000.

Givataim Rapid

The favourite Uriel Zak won again with 6/7, together with Lebedinsky who had lost to him but went on to beat 2nd and 3rd seeded Kagansky and Shutzman. In 3rd spot, with 5 points each, were Ettinger, Dan Tratatovici and the surprising Almog Zand, who also took the prize up to 2000, causing several upsets on the way. 12 year old Tomer Ben won the under 1700 prize with 3. The winner of the ASA Rapid tournament was top seed Uriel Zak with 6/7. Roman Goldin finished second with 5.5 points, and the 3rd place was divided between 5 players.

La Guardia Rapid

Today's tournament was a strong one, with half the participants with an Elo over 2100. After a short break, Alex Kaplevatsky returned to his usual winning score of 6/7. He was joined by Sergei Zitnikov, in his first appearance here. Lebedinsky and Shabodash shared 3rd place with 5. Vainshtein won the prize up to 2000 with 4, and there was no prize for under 1800 players, because there were hardly any... To see full results, click here.

Givataim Rapid

Once again Kaplevatsky showed his strength in rapid chess and finished the tournament with his traditional score : 6/7! Shutzman ,after a loss against him in the penultimate round, was able to catch him after winning Portnoy, and finished with 6/7 as well, and a better buchholtz. The third place was won by Or Cohen, also in good form in rapid chess lately. Gilboa, Lebedinsky and Portnoy shared 4th place with 5 points each. The prize for 2000 rating was won by Bar-Or and Igor Livshits, and the prize up to 1800 by Gorelik. The best veterans were Kaminnik, Markovich, Ginzburg and Len with 4.5 points.

November Tournament

The November Tournament took place today in Lasker Chess Club. The winners were Lebedinsky and Kaplevatsky (once more...) with 6/7. Shutzman and Len shared 3rd place with 5.5.
The prize for Players under 2000 was shared by 6 players: Fridman, Hasin, Shamis, Yusuposhvili, Vaisberg and Uritzky with 4 points. The best players under 1800 were Vasserman and Zak Fogel with 3 points. Morgovsky took the prize for the best veteran with 5 points.

The October International tournaments have ended


The winner of the GM tournament is Khmelniker, who with 7 points gained both the GM and the IM norm (his third, completing the title requirements). GM Savchenko finished second, with 6 points. GM Lerner finished third with 5 points.
In the IM tournament, the winners, with 6.5 points, are IM Marusenko and FM Deutsch, the last one missing the norm for IM by half a point. Shutzman finished third with 5.5 points.
Khmelniker`s norms were the only ones gained in the tournaments.
The tables can be seen in the "Ongoing events".
The games have been added to the "Games" section.
The GM tournament-sitting in the middle is the tournament winner, Ilya Khmelniker.

The winner of today's tournament, like the previous one, was Alex Kaplevatsky with 6/7. The second place was divided by the surprising Felix Vaisman, Lebedinsky and Weissbuch with 5.5/7. Next were Shutzman (led with 5/5), Klein, Gomri and Khashper with 5/7.
