Links.

Here are some recommended sites. Let me know about any broken links. Also let me know of any sites that you think might be worth listing. If you want me to link to your site, email me at eddiewillson2000(at)yahoo.co.uk , and I'll see what I can do.

Site of the month; Friends of the Earth. Sign up before we all fry.

Asaurus Records. Currently my favourite tiny CDR label.

Lollipop Small Press Listings. This site has a useful database of UK small presses. Well worth investigating.

Killer Coke. Read about Coca Cola’s sponsoring of torture and assassination of trade union leaders, and choke on your coke. Essential information.

Jeffrey Lewis. This bloke can do everything. Go here to check out his music and his ace comic books.

Cleanclothes.org . A worthwhile site campaigning against sweatshop conditions in the clothing trade, and the companies who profit from them.

National Novel Writing Month. What a great idea! Every November people around the world take up the ludicrous challenge of writing a novel in a month.

Zinestreet. I stumbled on this newish site by accident. It's an indispensable database of fanzine distributors around the world.

Trombone Poetry. He plays the trombone. He performs poetry. This is his excellent site.

No Media Kings This site is fantastic. Detailed how-to information on DIY publication including budget breakdowns, advice on promotion etc, plus well-written argument on the political and economic reasons for the low-budget approach. You'll be here for hours.

Underground Literary Alliance. An alliance of literary zinesters in the US, promoting DIY literature and showing up mainstream publishing for the marketing-driven farce it is.

Wred Fright. Homepage for an ally in the States. An inspiration and a ray of hope. His site's a bit like mine would be if I had something resembling a life.

Bookmouth. This site's an excellent source of info for anybody wanting to get any kind of DIY project off the ground. Loads of firsthand promotional tips and other handy ideas.

Computer Aid. Millions of perfectly good PCs end up in landfill sites every year in the UK. This charity finds better homes for them across the world.

Rattail.net Excellent gig review site with archives going back to 1998.

All That Glitters Fanzine Distro. A rare and welcome thing - a UK based fanzine distributor. Give them all your love and money.

Kyotei's Den. Currently my favourite mail-art site. Whenever I'm looking for a new mail-art project to take part in, I go here first.

Artrocker. They promote an excellent regular Tuesday night gig at the Buffalo Bar in Islington, as well as running a record label. Passionate about what they do, for all the right reasons.

Flitwick Records. These people run a record label like they're eccentric millionaires, but they aren't. Take them to your heart but don't take the piss.

Laura Hird. Official website of writer Laura Hird. There's hours' worth of interesting and useful stuff here, and not a hint of ponceyness. Updated really regularly too.

Billy Childish. Home to all things relating to the king of home-made poetry, art and music.

Diskant. Awesome site linking hundreds of sites for bands, fanzines and labels.

DIY Search. Big searchable listing of lots of sites relating to DIY culture.

Factsheet 5. Humungous database of fanzines and ezines. Not totally up to date but worth checking out.

Drowned In Sound. Excellent online music zine, with reviews, gig listings and more.

London Free List. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Lists load of free stuff to do in London from yoga to gigs and classical concerts.

Web Alley. One of the best sites I've seen for resources if you fancy setting up your own website.

Shouting at the Postman. A snazzy looking site full of info about mail art and much besides. If you don't know what mail art is, this is one of the best places to start finding out.

Bliss Aquamarine. A non-profit DIY tape label and ezine with excellent links section.

The Modern Dance. Ezine with more music reviews than you can shake a stick at.

Mad People Distro. Website for a U.S. fanzine distributor, run by somebody immediately likeable.

Moon Rocket Distro. They distribute fanzines rather than moon rockets. They started out distributing moon rockets but the postage was prohibitive.

Published.com. Brilliant resource for independent writers. Info on self-publishing, and extensive directory of indie writers and artists.

Random Access Memory. Over 5000 participants post their memories here, and you can too. Like Mass Observation without the paternalism.
