News - 12 Gauge address rumours 23 October 2005
I'm just posting to clarify some pretty serious rumours that have been circulating on the internet recently as to the future directions of 12 Gauge. The first rumour of particular concern is that 12 Gauge has offered themselves to take over from INXS in the Rockstar series, for Rockstar:12 Gauge. I will confirm once and for all that this IS NOT TRUE. The death of lead triangle player Salibob Gitzshenken in a tragic gardening accident back in '98 obviously scarred the band, and no one can deny that a certain life has been drained from the spirit and music of 12 Gauge. However, we are a band of integrity, we realise that Sal's talents are irreplaceable and we will continue to make the music we love, for the hardcore original fans. We refuse to sell out to corporate America!

Another ludicrous claim that has surfaced is that bassist Jeff Simpson, the same Jeff Simpson that joined 12 Gauge, the same Jeff Simpson that then revoked on his contract the next morning when he sobered up, the very same Jeff Simpson that said that WE, 12 GAUGE, LACKED THE INFLATABLE DRAGONS TO BE TRULY GREAT, has joined the band. This rumour I can confirm.

We had our first full band practice today as a new, improved super group. Obviously the 4 semi-original members of 12 Gauge had a lot of animosity towards Jeff, due to his constant degrading of the band in international media circles. However, we were all surprised to find that Jeff was a bass player that could actually play bass! Our jaws dropped as we witnessed Jeff actually PLAYING NOTES on his bass, without the guidance of myself or Liam. Before Jeff came along we had never had a bassist who could perform in such a way. The main focus of today was power stances and correct headbanging technique, an area of expertise for Jeff.

Despite the fact I have longer hair than him MWAHWAHHAWHAA!!!!

Anyway, band practice went swimmingly, and 12 Gauge fans will surely be anticipating the release of the latest 12 Gauge hit "Alice in Wonderland". We're slowly assembling a solid set-list for the upcoming European leg of our world tour. Dutch Emo band Hans in Arms will be our support act. Its refreshing to see that even in remote Holland rich teenagers still hate their parents and life in general. The fringes on these guys are unmatched. I get depressed just looking at them.

On a more local scale, getting 'back to our roots' so to speak, our management team is currently in negotiations with Neverscent International. With any luck it is possible that 12 Gauge may be performing at the Neverscent Farewell gig, destined to the Woodstock of North-east Howick.

Also keep an eye out for our individual bios, as I suspect that they may start to emerge in the not so distant future. When I say I suspect they may emerge I mean that it is most likely that they will never see the light of day. I guess it makes us more mysterious and underground and stuff...

News - 12 Gauge update website 28 August 2005
You aint lying holmes...

12 Gauge Inc return from across the border to bring you the latest breaking news on the artists formally (and currently) known as 12 Gauge. The hit single 'Foresight' has had nearly 200 downloads in its various forms. In a small African nation this would be platnium status.

So what have we been doing since the 15th of June 2005 you ask. Well, we had a practice on Friday. We played songs and stuff. I resoldered the electronics in my guitar - alcorn style. I only burnt myself seriously four times. We decided to tune our guitars half a step down, so now we can play those classic Linkin Park tunes you all know and love. Neo-goth bassist Jeff Simpson was also recruited to the group to fill in on bass. When he sobered up he realised the horrible mistake he had made and quickly resigned, returning to his power metal project "Feat of Arms". Sources close to the musician say that Simpson felt that 12 Gauge lacked the swords and inflatible dragons that they needed to become truely great. 12 Gauge Management Inc declined to comment. I'd say it was a pretty productive 2 months.

In other news Ben, lead vocalist and all-round good guy, has been on a 12 Gauge marketing trip to the United States, where he introduced the natives to our soothing sounds. He has also been working on Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat. Besides being cast in a main role Ben has also been employed as a full-time vocal coach and stage production manager. His ground breaking initiative thus far is robotic sheep. Tickets are on sale now from your local Music Centre. There will be a signing session with 12 Gauge guitar heros Laurence and Liam after the conclusion of the Friday night show.

Many fans have been eagerly asking us "When are playing at the infamous Pakuranga Lawn Bowls club?". The answer - "?". Unfortunatley this show was the brainchild of local band Neverscent. Of course when 12 Gauge entered the Howick music market, the inefficient operations of Neverscent International Ltd, who had once enjoyed a 100% market share, meant that they had to cease production. As a result the show has been "put on the back burner", to use the colloquialism. The only hope to salvage the show is the reformation of Neverscent, which is unlikely to happen, because they suck.

So, that went on longer than expected. Continue to leave those positive messages of encouragement in the chatbox. I havent actually bothered to update anything else on the website. But I have a dream. I have a dream that one day those bios will be up. One day you will actually be able to see what we look like. One day we might even have a gig to add to the gigs page. One day.

News - 12 Gauge historic demo recording 7 June 2005
On Sunday 12 Gauge headed into 12 Gauge International Studio Ltd (Ben's lounge) to do a demo for the track Foresight. After several labourious hours of multi tracking, harmonising, and watching pirated movies, the final result was reached, and now it is available to you, the loyal 12 Gauge fan to download in the media section. There are a few bung notes and lapses in timing, but overall its not too bad. Feel free to leave constructive comments in the forum.

News - 12 Gauge signs lucrative Website deal 3 June 2005
Well, 12 Gauge has a website, which means we must be good. Over the next little while i'll be trying to upload some pictures and music downloads of the artists known as '12 Gauge' for all the hardcore fans out there (Hi Mum!). Looking upwards to the banner you will find links to all the sections of the website you will need to get your 12 Gauge fix. Taking a brief glance at the right hand side of your page you will also see a chatbox where you can leave messages such as "OMG!!1!one! yOu GuYS r lYk SOoO aWEsOmE!!" and "12 Gauge > Neverscent" to further inflate our egos.

The first 12 Gauge song 'foresight' should be online reasonably soon, and I might even be able to find a way to upload our Rockquest performance for you guys to check out. Hopefully you will be able find a way handle the anticipation that will undoubtedly build in this time.
